Stop a second billing plan from ever starting quietly

Any business that bills a customer on a recurring plan for something physical, storage space, a maintenance contract, a rental, tends to run that billing by hand, disconnected from the booking or intake system. The most common failure that produces is invisible until a customer disputes it: staff start a second recurring plan for someone who already has one, and the account gets billed twice a month for months before anyone notices. This page shows a small, working tool that closes that gap: starting a new plan checks for an existing active one first and makes staff explicitly confirm before creating a duplicate, plus a no-login customer portal where an account holder can see every plan and charge on their account and flag one they do not recognize, instead of needing to escalate to a dispute or a public complaint to get someone's attention.

Everything below is fictional. When this gets built for a real business, the duplicate check runs against whatever system already tracks active plans, and the customer portal reads the same billing records staff already keep, it does not replace either system.

How this gets built for real

The duplicate check is the whole point. It has to run against the real, live list of active plans at the moment staff try to start a new one, not a report someone reviews later.
The customer portal reads billing, it does not decide it. Flagging a charge raises it for a person to review, it does not refund anything automatically.
This is a bridge, not a replacement. It sits alongside whatever booking or payment tooling already exists, and only needs one added check plus one added view.
